EuropeIf you love culture and history, Europe is the place to visit! Its rich, centuries-old history has provided Europeans of today with exceptional heritage. Every city, every region conceals countless treasures: town centers or entire districts built in the Middle Ages, churches, cathedrals, castles and manors, typical or traditional houses, covered markets, belfries, high walls …

All these elements can be found in towns and cities, but also in the countryside. The Unesco was not wrong: countless European cultural or historical sites have been declared World Heritage Sites.

More recently, Europeans have continued to build more modern monuments, which also attract a large number of tourists including the Eiffel Tower or the Louvre Pyramid in Paris and the Atomium in Brussels.

Architectural styles from all periods can also be seen in the cities: Flemish architecture in the Netherlands or Belgium, Hanseatic architecture to the north of Germany and in the old trading posts of Hanse, up to Bergen in Norway.

Once a year, the European Heritage Days give access to sites that are usually closed to the public. Don´t miss this unique event in September every year.

Art plays a major part in Europe, which explains its tremendously high number of museums that are extremely popular in the capitals and much frequented even in small villages—antique museums or archaeology museums, contemporary art museums, fine arts museums, natural science museums, theme-based museums. Let yourself be guided by a few legendary names such as the British Museum in London, the Louvre in Paris, the Prado Museum in Madrid, the Archaeology Museum in Athens, the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and many more. But keep your eyes wide open—incredible treasures are hidden in less-known museums.

Exhibitions are highly popular everywhere in Europe all year round, spotlighting specific artists, or focusing on a specific period or special subject.

Theaters and opera houses abound in European cities, but plays and operas can also be enjoyed in the countryside now, in the open air. Attend a theater play or an opera in one of these European temples of culture, often an old building, which will immerse you in bygone times.

Every country offers a highly-varied festival program for every season. You are bound to find what you love most: music, opera, theater. Art in all its facets is out in the streets, accessible to locals and visitors alike.

Europe has a reputation to maintain in the Art of Living: cuisine and fine wine, but also beer, are among Europeans´ favorite topics of conversation and take up a considerable part of their leisure time. Every European country, every Pan-European region, will offer you an extensive range of typical meals, that can be enjoyed with marvelous wines. Indulge yourself in this delight.
